Pteranodon USNM 13868

Pteranodon sp. USNM 13868 (Bennett 1991, 2001) was derived from a sister to the NMC41-358 Triebold specimen and phylogenetically preceded the USNM 12167 specimen.

Distinct from the NMC41-358 specimen, the crest of USNM 13868 was more erect and narrower dorsally. A small cantilevered portion of the crest was present. The upper temporal fenestra was reduced by expansion of the postorbital portion of the frontal.
