Pteranodon sp. AMNH 5099 (undescribed) was derived from a sister to the USNM 12167 specimen of Pteranodon and phylogenetically preceded Pteranodon YPM 2473.

Distinct from the USNM 12167 specimen, the skull of AMNH 5099 had an anteroposteriorly longer jugal with a longer ventral base. The base of the orbit was not V-shaped. The extent of the crest is unclear, but it appears to be narrow and extended in line with the antorbital rim of the jugal.
