Torgos tracheliotos (Forster 1791) is the extant lappet-faced vulture, an Old World vulture related to Falco, the falcon, Tyto, the owl, and Apus, the swift. It is not closely related to the New World vulture, Coragyps.

Buteo buteo (Linneaus 1758) is the common buzzard a type of hawk. Several analyses separate hawks from falcons, but here they nest close to one another. Buteo is basal to owls + swifts.

Tyto javanica (Billberg 1828) is the extant eastern barn owl.

Glareola pratincola (Linneaus 1766) is the collared pratincole, a bird others considered a plover, but here nests between owls and nightjars. Like them it feeds on the wing.

Aegotheles cristatus (originally Caprimulgus cristatus Shaw 1790; Vigors & Horsfield 1827) is the extant owlet-nightjar, a clade of nocturnal insectivores exclusively from Australasia.

Lyncornis macrotis (Vigors 1831; up to 40cm) is the extant great eared nightjar of SE Asia. Only the tip of the beak extends beyond the facial and 'chin' feathers. Note the enormous orbit lacking an owl-like sclerotic ring. They nest on the ground among leaf litter.

Parargornis messelensis (Mayr 2003; Eocoene; HLMB Be 193) nests with the swift, Apus, in the LRT. It is not related to hummingbirds, contra Mayr 2003).

Tynskya eocaena (Mayr 2000, early Eocene) was considered a link between falcons and owls, but here nests with the swift, Apus.
