Quiscalus quicula (Linneaus 1758) is the extant common grackle. Commonly considered an icterid passerine, the grackle is close to crows, like Corvus. Grackles are basal to ibises and hoopoes.

Upupa epops (Linneaus 1758) is the extant hoopoe. According to Wikipedia: "The hoopoe has two basic requirements of its habitat: bare or lightly vegetated ground on which to forage and vertical surfaces with cavities in which to nest." Here Upupa nests with Threskiornis, the ibis, derived from the starling.

Threskiornis aethiopicus (Latham 1790, 68 cm long) is the extant sacred ibis. It has a narrow, down-curved beak. This taxon nests with the starling, Sturnus, and the hoopoe, Upupa (above).
