Archaeotherium mortoni (Leidy 1850; Eocene-Oligocene, 33 mya; YPM VP 056804, USNM V3877; 2m in length) was a peccary-like swift predator. The narrow skull contained a large olfactory bulb and a small brain with wide cheek flanges framing large jaw muscles. Note the reappearance of the postfrontal and postorbital here.

Dinohyus hollandi (= Daedon shoshonensis Cope 1878; Peterson 1905b; Oligocene to Miocene, 29–mya; skull length 90 cm) was the last and largest of the entelodonts. A huge skull and slender limbs tipped by two fingers and two twos characterize this genus. A bison-like hump of dorsal spines helped support the mighty skull. The jugal extends to the jaw joint, something that usually only happens in marsupials.

Anthracotherium sminthos (Forster-Cooper 1913) nests between Ancodus and the horned ruminants, like Micromeryx and Giraffa. Overall larger than Ancodus, the dorsal vertebrae of this pig-like ungulate developed a hump, which served as an anchor for the neck muscles holding up the large skull. Here, as in deer and kin, the weight was carried by the middle two toes while the lateral and medial ones became vestiges, as seen in modern swine. Kubanochoerus gigas (Pearson 1928; Miocene; 10mya; 1.2m tall at shoulder) nests with Anthracotherium in the LRT as a large unicorn suid. The horn appears to be an outgrowth of the mesethmoid, as in the flightless bird, Casuarius. This genus roamed Asia and Europe.
