Deinocheirus mirificus (Osmólska & Roniewicz 1970, Lee et al. 2014; Latest Cretaceous, 70 mya 11m) was originally and later considered a giant ornithomimosaur. Here it nests with the ornithomimosaur, Gallimimus.
Like ornithomimosaurs, Deinocheirus was toothless and had long slender arms with a metacarpus of subequal metacarpals.
Like spinosaurs, Deinocheirus had long dorsal neural spines.
Like duckbill dinosaurs and ulike all theropods, except ducks, the rostrum flared laterally at the tip.
The pes has four toes. |
