Patranomodon nyaphulii (NMQR 3000, Rubidge and Hopson 1990, 1996) and Galeops are basal to the Dicynodonts AND the Venjukoviamorphs in the present cladograms. Note the downturned maxilla, small teeth, and elevated gracile squamosal. The cervicals are robust. The manus has large digging claws and short fingers. Three sacral vertebrae are present attached to an ilium that is as tall as long. The femur is robust.

Galeops whaitsi (Broom 1912, Brinkman 1981; AMNH 5536) The only toothless dromasaur.
