Lemur catta (Linneaus 1758; 40cm snout to length + 60cm tail) is the extant ring-tailed lemur from Madagascar. Diurnal and highly social, Lemur is an athletic quadrupedal and bipedal leaping arboreal omnivore. Here Lemur nests basal to other tested lemurs.

Perodicticus potto (Statius Müller 1766; 39 cm long; Africa) is the extant potto, a slow-moving nocturnal and arboreal lemur with a stub tail. Perodicticus nests in the LRT with Lemur. It lacks two distal phalanges on manual digit 2 and the thumb is opposable. The long neural spines nearly pierce the skin and are used as defensive weapons.

Galago senegalensis (É. Geoffroy, 1796) is the Senegal bushbaby, a small nocturnal lemur close to Lemur catta and the potto, Perodicticus. Convergent to Tarsius, the proximal tarsals are elongated. The anterior upper incisors are missing. The medial incisors are appressed to the canines.
