Sinocalliopteryx gigas (Ji, Ji Lu and Yuan 2007; Early Cretaceous ~125 mya, 2.75m, complete skeleton), was a basal theropod, basal to the Coelophysis clade which originated in the Late Triassic. Derived taxa, like Proceratosaurus or Compsognathus, were smaller. Sinocalliopteryx was fully feathered, especially on the torso and hind limbs.

Megaraptor namunhuaiquii (Novas 1998; Porfiri et al. 2014; Late Cretaceous, 90mya) Initially considered a giant dromaeosaur-like coelurosaur, then an eovenatorid allosauroid, then a basal tyrannosauroid coelurosaur, here Megaraptor nests with Sinocalliopteryx and other basal theropods close to Tawa.
