Procompsognathus triassicus (Fraas 1913, Late Triassic 210 mya, 1m in length) SMNS 12591 was another small, lightly-built theropod with smaller forelimbs and longer hind limbs. Derived from a sister to Marasuchus, Procompsognathus did not give rise to later dinosaur taxa.
Distinct from Marasuchus, the cervicals were more gracile and the dorsals were longer. The forelimbs (represented by MCZ 10152, a separate specimen) were more gracile. The pubis was longer along with the hind limbs. The toes were relatively shorter. |
