Wadeichthys oxyops (Waldman 1971; 12cm long; NMV P30909, Early Cretaceous) was originally considered a member of the the Pholodophoriformes, like Pholidophorus. Here it nests withe Dipteronotus. Note the robust yet blunt teeth and the whiskbroom-like fins.

There is another taxon under the genus Wadeichthys that is related to the extant piranha, Serrasalmus, amember of the herring family.

Archaeomaene tenuis originally Madariscus robustus (Woodward 1895, Bean 2021, Latest Jurassic, 150mya) was originally and traditionally considered a member of the Pholidophorus clade. Here it nests with Sangiorgioichthys. Note the tiny premaxilla, shallow dentary and large orbit.
