Quebecius quebecensis (Hay 1902, originally Holoptychius quebecensis Whiteaves 1889;Schultze and Arenault 1987; Late Devonian, up to 60cm in length) was originally considered a porolepiform basal to coelocanths with Holoptychius.Here it nests with the classic Cheirolepis (not related to the holotype Cheiroleips. The fore fin is lobed but the pelvic fin is not. Note the dorsal and anal fins are also not lobed, distinct from Holoptychius. |
