Trematosaurus brauni (Burmeister 1849; Early Triassic, 245 mya) This croc-like basal tetrapod had a low triangular skull with dorsal nares. The marginal teeth were tiny and sharp. The palateal teetyh were larger.
Metoposaurus diagnosticus (von Meyer 1842 (Metopias preoccupied), Lydekker 1890; Late Triassic, 200 mya; 3m in length) was a flat-headed, aquatic member of the Temnospondyli. The orbits were far forward. The skull was wider than in Tremotosaurus.
