Sclerocephalus haeuseri (Goldfuss 1847, Boy 1988, Schoch and Witzmann 2009; SMNS 90055) Late Carboniferous, up to 1.5m in length, 60 cm skull; Permian 295 mya) was soriginally misidentified as a fish, but nests here with Eryops as a temnospondyl. This genus is known from early juveniles to adults. Note the interfrontal on the adult skull tracing (in color at left) and the lacrimal naris contact. |
