Rhamphorhynchus gemmingi (Gross 1937) SMF R 4128, no. 43 in the Wellnhofer catalog, Late Jurassic, ~155 mya, was a sister to R. muensteri and no. 74 and phylogenetically preceded no. 38. Exposed in dorsal view, the ventral elements remain buried in the matrix.
Distinct from No. 74 and R. muensteri, the skull of No. 43 was relatively shorter with a naris one-third over the antorbital fenestra.
The cervicals were longer than in R. muensteri and the dorsals were shorter, as in no. 74. The caudals were gracile, as in R. muensteri.
The deltopectoral crest of the humerus was tongue-shaped and convex posteriorly. Manual 4.1 extended beyond the elbow as in other R. gemmingi specimens, like no. 38 and no. 52.
The hind limbs were relatively short suggesting a shallow posterior torso as in no. 74.
