Rhamphorhynchus gemmingi (von Meyer 1859) TM 6920/21, no. 38 in the Wellnhofer catalog, Late Jurassic, ~155 mya, was a sister to no. 43 and phylogenetically preceded no. 52. The top of the skull was lost at the edge of the matrix.
Distinct from no. 43, no. 38 had a more robust tail and m4.3 was subequal to m4.1 and m4.2. The deltopectoral crest was crescent-shaped. The sacrals were wider. The hind limbs were longer. Metatarsal IV was subequal to mt I.
