Trypanognathus remigiusbergensis (Schoch and Voigt 2019; latest Carboniferous)
This is a late-surviving specimen of the first taxon in the LRT with fingers and toes. It nests in a more basal position than originally thought, between Panderichthys and Lairleria. Here comparisons are made to basal members of other tetrapod clades along with Panderichthys, the outgroup with lobe fins, not fingers. Note the flat, laterally projecting ribs and relatively small limbs, both primitive traits not shared with Acanthostega and Ichthyostega, to derived tetrapods returning to a more aquatic existence.
