Mesorhinosuchus fraasi (Jaekel 1910 - originally Mesorhinus and considered an temnospondyl amphibian, unnumbered GZG, Early Triassic, Olenekian) is the oldest and most primitive known parasuchian. While the naris was dorsal, it was not raised into a prominence and the nares were quite large. The anterior half of the skull is restored here based on other parasuchians. |
