Khaan mckennai (Balanoff and Norell 2012, IGM 100/1127, Late Cretaceous) is unquestionably an oviraptorid theropod dinosaur. Most of the traditional sister taxa of oviraptorids have not been tested here. In the large reptile tree Khaan nests with Limusaurus adnd Juravenator + Sinosauropteryx.
The nares is dorsally placed on a very short and pneumatic rostrum. The mandible includes a very tall coronoid process. Teeth are absent. Rollover the image below to see skull elements colorized. |
