Borhyaena tuberata (Ameghino 1887; Early Miocene, 20mya; 50 cm at the shoulder; PU 015701) nests as a derived member of the Hyaenodon clade. It was similar to living hyenas. The lateral view skull image (upper left) had to be broken in order connect the glenoid to the jaw joint.

Arctodictis sinclairi (Forasieppi 2009, early Miocene, snout-vent length 1m, tail length 70 cm. MLP 85-VII-3-1) was a large borhyaenid marsupial with face like a big cat by convergence.

Pterodon dasyuroides = Hyainailouros sulzeri (Biedermann 1863; Miocene) is close to Apteron (above), but larger overall with larger eyes set closer to the middle of the skull and a smaller zygomatic arch. So this is another arctocyonid marsupial.

Conoryctes comma (originally Hexadon, Cope 1881; Schoch 1986; Paleocene). Here the Schoch drawings were not a good match for the fossil data. This taxon nests tentatively with Pterodon = Hyainailouros.
