Gekko smithii (Gray 1825) Early Cretaceous ~100 mya to the present, was derived from a sister to Tchingisaurus (see below).

Intercentra were present. The tail was reduced.The forelimb was smaller and more gracile as were the fingers. The pubis and ischium were greatly shortened. The hindlimb was also more gracile with shorter toes, but pedal digit V was more robust. Metatarsals 2-4 were shorter than half the tibia. Pedal digit V has only three phalanges.

Gekko gecko (Gray 1835) has a taller skull than Gekko smithii and a deeper jaw joint. It is a sister to the long-skulled Lialis (see below).

Lialis burtonis (Gray 1835) is a living legless gecko. This snake-like lizard has a visible ear hole and a broad fleshy tongue. The rostrum and cranium were both longer. The downturned maxilla prevents the jaws from fully closing.

Eublepharis (Gray 1827) Most gekkos cannot blink. Eublepharis has eyelids, like most tetrapods. The toes do not have adhesive lamellae.

Chometokadmon fitzingeri (Costa 1864, Evans et al. 2016; MPN 539; Early Cretaceous). Nests between Tchingisaurus and Gekko smithii in the large reptile tree. What Evans et al. identified as a squamosal of odd shape may instead be the anteriro and dorsal rim of the quadrate, as in Tchingisaurus.
