Gegepterus changi (Wang et al. 2007) was derived from a sister to no. 45 and was a sister to Ctenochasma gracile, no. 65 and Pterodaustro.

Distinct from No. 45, the skull of Gegepterus was longer with a relatively smaller cranium and orbit.

Gladocephaloideus jingangshanensis (Lü et al. 2012) was originally considered a gallodactylid (cycnorhamphid), but a reconstruction more closely resembles a Gegepterus, a ctenochasmatid. There was soft tissue preserved on the cheek and cranium, which obscured the bones. The elongated neck is shared with Gegepterus.

A second specimen referred to Gladocephaloideus (Lü et al. 2016) is not supported by the large pterosaur tree. Rather it is a basal ctenochasmatid described here.
