Dorygnathus banthensis (SMNS 51827) Middle Jurassic ~175mya, ~28 cm snout-to-vent length was derived from a sister to the Donau specimen and phylogenetically preceded the SMNS 50164 specimen and Fenghuangopterus.
Distinct from the Donau specimen, the skull of SMNS 51827 was longer and had a lower antorbital fenestra. Three dentary teeth were extremely long and robust.
The caudals were shorter and more robust distally.
The scapula was longer as was the humerus. The ulna and radius were more robust. The manus was larger and the fingers were longer.
The pelvis was larger, but the pubis was shorter. The prepubis ventral rim was absent leaving a straight ventral edge and no perforation. Metatarsal IV was much shorter than the other metatarsals mt II was the longest. Pedal 1.1 was twice as long. The pedal unguals were all the same size.
