Coccosteus, ANU V244, Stenosteus, Romundina, Campbellodus, Austroptyctodus and Materpiscis

Romundina stellina (Ørvig 1975, Early Devonian) is a phylogenetically miniaturized taxon between Coccosteus and the ptyctodontids placoderms, like Campblellodus.

Campbellodus decipiens (Miles and Young 1977; Late Devonian) is reconstructed here from the original diagram in Long 1997.

Austroptyctodus gardineri (right, originally Ctenurella (Miles and Young 1977; Long 1997; Late Devonian) appears to be toothless in the illustration above, but had tooth plates. Here it nests with Materpiscis and Campbellodus.

Materpiscis attenboroughi (Long, Trinjstic, Young and Senden 2008; Late Devonian; 28cm long est.) is similar to Austroptyctodus and includes a single quarter-sized embryo inside indicating viviparity.
