Jucaraseps grandipes Bolet and Evans (2012) was a tiny elongate lizard with large feet. It nests with Eichstaettisaurus and shows many affinities with the much larger descendant Adriosaurus. Caldwell et al. (2014) report a likely Jurassic origin for snakes, so the origin of Jucaraseps likely goes back to the Triassic or Permian.

Aphanizocnemus libanensis (Dal Sasso and Pinna 1997; 12 in. long) was considered a dolichosaur and therefore a relative of snakes. The hands and feet are large relative to the limbs. Flattened phalanges suggest flippers or paddles. Aphanizocnemus was derived from a sister to Jucaraseps and nested basal to Adriosaurus and Pontosaurus.

Portunatasaurus krambergeri (Mekarski et al. 2019; Cenoman-Turonian, Late Cretaceous) was originally considered a stem mosasauroid with feet, not flippers. Here it nests with Aphanizocnemus among the dolichosaur snake ancestors. Note the number of cervicals (9+), the robust ribs, and other more subtle traits in the manus and elsewhere. Here the sacral areaa is move furthr posteriorly.
