Chlamydoselachus anguineus (Garman 1884; 2m in length) is the basalmost shark + bony fish in the LRT. On one branch sharks and sturgeons arise from this taxon. On another branch the rest of the bony fish and ultimately tetrapods arise. The anterior gill slits, that connect ventrally are retained by bony fish. The posterior five gill slits are retained by sharks. |
