Bystrowiella schumanni (Witzmann and Schoch 2017; Middle Triassic) is a bystrowianid chroniosuchian distinquished by having the can-opener-like medial premaxillary teeth larger than the lateral ones, along with a long list of other distinct traits. The large reptile tree (LRT, 1023 taxa) nests Bystrowiella with Solenodonsaurus, which nests with the chroniosuchids. Note the jugal extending nearly to the premaxilla. It probably rimmed an antorbital fenestra. Note the close compaction of the premaxillary teeth. We don't know how long they were. |
